Why a Low Glycemic Diet Works for Fertility in PCOS

Dec 8, 2022

A majority of women with PCOS face insulin resistance and elevated blood sugars. Insulin resistance or Excess insulin makes the body promote testosterone production over estrogen production. It makes women ovulate irregularly or not ovulate at all which affects egg quality, leading to fertility problems. To lower insulin resistance, I’d recommend a diet focusing on low glycemic index foods. Glycemic index is a measure of how quickly your blood sugar rises in response to a food you eat.  Low Glycemic Index foods release sugar relatively slowly into your bloodstream, preventing spikes in blood sugar. When you eat this way, periods & ovulation will become regular. I’ve mentioned a list of low glycemic index foods to have AND high glycemic foods to avoid, in the caption below.
